We can’t believe it’s the last term in Year 4 already!
This term we’re starting our topic on WW2 with an exciting trip to the Imperial War Museum in the North planned (and possibly a sneaky visit to the Lowry art gallery to see some of the LS Lowry paintings we learned about last term). We’ll learn what life was like for children in England during the War, what evacuees felt like, what rationing was and what an Anderson Shelter was used for – we might even make one!
We’ll do lots of reading and writing about texts set in WW2, in Literacy eg. Goodnight Mr Tom, by Michelle Margorian and The Lion and the Unicorn, by Shirley Hughes.
We’ll be learning about habitats and environments for animals around the world, in Science then moving onto looking at States of Matter and which materials are liquids, solids and gasses and how materials can change between these different states.
In Maths we’ll continue to practise our multiplication tables, understand co-ordinates and calculate the area of rectangles, as well as recapping on everything we’ve learnt throughout Year 4.
We’ll continue with our weekly PE sessions with Jack, from MCFC as well as our weekly swimming lessons at Abraham Moss school.
Year 4 love Circle Times where we learn to listen respectfully to one another, take turns and get to know and understand each other better. This creates a happier class who learn more and enjoy the learning too!
If you’d like to talk to any of the Year 4 team, please look out for us in the playground before and after school.
The Year 4 team,
Ms Ogunyemi, Mrs Ahmed and Ms Jolleys
