A message from our Head Teacher: COVID-19
Please make sure, if your child is returning to school, you have watched one of the videos before arrive to find out about all the measures we have put in place for the safety of all. You also need to be aware of the new drop off times and system.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank those of you who have taken time to ask about the staff’s wellbeing in school and to offer your support. It is really appreciated by us all.
This is an unprecedented situation and we are all constantly learning to adapt to the situation around us. All of the staff are extremely disappointed that school life will not continue as normal for your children. However, currently there are more significant priorities for our community and society as a whole.
Hopefully, this disruption to our community will be for as short an amount of time as possible. We will begin to return to normal school operations as soon as we can.
We will communicate using email as much as possible so please make sure the office are aware of your email address. Updates that you need to be made aware of will be shared on the school Facebook page and on this website.
We will strive to continue providing learning opportunities for children through Class Dojo. Class pages are updated daily so there will be plenty of opportunities to reinforce the learning that your children have undertaken this year. Should you need to contact the school in case of an emergency during this closure, you will be able to so via: firstname.lastname@example.org, which will be checked daily.
As stated above, the closure of the school is for the vast majority of pupils, however we are delighted that we can support our community by continuing to welcome some of our pupils into school. Currently, we do not have the complete criteria of which pupils will be entitled to continue, however, we can confirm it will include the following:
In school we are directly contacting families in category 1 and 2 but we really need to know if you are in category 3 and are a ‘key worker’ and would like your child to still attend school. We will update the above criteria as soon as we have more information.
If your child is eligible to attend school, as detailed above, then please confirm this telephoning the office on 0161 871 2614 or by emailing email@example.com no later than 9:00 am on Friday 20th March.
This will allow us time to plan suitable provision for Monday. Provided your child or any member of your family are not showing any symptoms of coronavirus/COVID -19 including a high temperature and a new persistent cough and they don’t have any underlying health conditions that would categorise them as ‘vulnerable’ they will be able to attend school if they meet these criteria. When notifying school that you are eligible please also indicate whether or not your child will be in attendance on Monday. If not, please let us know if this is because you are currently self-isolating or because you do not intend to send your child to school for the foreseeable future.
The entire staff body would like to extend their best wishes to you all in the period ahead. We hope that you and your family stay healthy and safe throughout the challenges that face us. Whilst this is undoubtedly a situation that causes some great anxiety and uncertainty, we are confident that the Unity community will support each other with positivity and compassion.
Best wishes to all,
Mrs Lee and the Unity team
Together we will set our children on a path to fulfil their dreams
