Big Chance Programme

Welcome to Big Chance – run by Big Life Schools!

This is a community programme taking place across the Cheetham and Longsight areas – including right here at Unity Community Primary School!

Big Chance provides support for families, women, and local people in our community. This includes free workshops and coffee mornings every week & courses to help you apply for jobs, learn skills and build confidence. All services will be led in a culturally appropriate and sensitive manner. Childcare will also be available during sessions on a first-come, first-served basis.

We are here to help with:

• Building relationships in your community & meeting people like you
• Training in IT, Maths and English
• Learning digital skills and using the internet safely
• Free 1-to-1 support with a mentor (available in English and community languages)
• Building your confidence and feeling good
• Talking about emotions and looking after your mental health
• Learning how to apply for jobs, write a CV, and do online interviews

Some sessions are supported by local providers and community organisations, such as:
Khizra Mosque • ITC Centre • Guidance Hub • Trafford College • WETA • Alchemy Arts • Northmoor Community Centre • MAES • Bollyfit & more!

What Will Be Happening?

We will be running different types of sessions, all of which are open and free:

Flourish with Me Time:

A weekly well-being session with henna art to help you build confidence, understand emotions, manage stress, and set goals. A friendly space to discuss and explore.

Arabic-Speaking Women’s Circle:

A relaxed chai-in/coffee morning led by an Arabic-speaking host. A great way to meet other women and feel part of your community.

General Community Support & Engagement Sessions:

Different sessions to come along, speak to our team, and find out how we can support you with training, mentoring, or local opportunities.
