Wellbeing at Unity
A commitment to wellbeing – for children, staff and families – underpins everything we do. We want children to feel happy and safe in school and to develop their full physical and emotional potential as well as their academic, potential.
We recognise the interdependence of wellbeing and learning. Positive mental and physical health is essential supports children to learn, and being a successful learner builds resilience and self-esteem.
Every child has the right to life. Governments must do all they can to ensure that children survive and develop to their full potential.

Relational Circles
At Unity Community Primary School, our Relational Circles offer a way of building friendly, trusting relationships amongst staff and students.
This is a school-wide group pastoral scheme which gives children a supportive space to talk, listen, and build relationships with others, designed to foster a sense of belonging and growth amongst students. The vertical grouping allows children to form long-lasting bonds across the whole school, regardless of what class they’re in, whilst improving general confidence and wellbeing.
Each small group is made up of around 10 students, a mix of different year groups and ages, who meet twice a week with their trusted school adult. Starting and ending every week with these Relational Circles gives our children time to connect and grow together. Most importantly, it makes sure every child has a chance to share and feel heard.
Monday Mornings – Weekly Check-in, Positive Affirmation & Setting the Tone for the week ahead.
Friday Afternoon – Reflecting on how the week went, Celebrating Attendance, Star of the week, Birthdays.
All sessions are circle-based, promoting equal voices, active listening, and shared responsibility – core principles of our relational approach. It’s also a chance to learn about important topics outside of the curriculum, such as wellbeing, helping others, kindness and the world around us. We also discuss special events or religious celebrations that are happening, such as Black History Month or Diwali.
