At Unity, our pupils have regular chances to access Outdoor Education, either through our Forest Schools partners or through termly Outdoor Learning Days.

This element of our curriculum is particularly important in our urban area, where many children lack access to outdoor activities.  Outdoor Education provides a nurturing space that supports our children’s wellbeing by providing and implementing positive, outdoor, child centred experiences in a natural setting.

Forest School is a child-centred inspirational learning process, that offers opportunities for holistic growth through regular sessions. It is a long-term program that supports play, exploration and supported risk taking. It develops confidence and self-esteem through learner inspired, hands-on experiences in a natural setting. Children at Unity access Forest School as a universal offer in certain year groups. Alongside the universal offer, it is delivered as a targeted intervention to boost confidence and self-esteem.
